Linnea Adele Erlandson, 78, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, in Wareham, MA. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ralph and Karin Erlandson. She is the loving sister of Kaarin O’Brien, and the late Elsa Cook, Lee Erlandson and Jay Erlandson. She was the caring wife of the late John P Smith. She leaves behind her long time partner of over 25 years, Jack Nevil, who’s loving care and exceptional devotion enabled her to stay in her home during her long illness. Born on June 25, 1946, in Boston, Linnea was a beacon of kindness and grace throughout her life.
Linnea dedicated her career to education, earning a master's degree from Boston State College and teaching in Boston for many years. Her passion for fostering literacy and values in children led her to a memorable appearance on Sesame Street, where she shared her love for children's books.
Beyond her professional achievements,
Linnea was a woman of many talents and passions. She was an exceptional cook and a graceful dancer, always bringing joy and elegance to any gathering. As a gracious hostess, she made every guest feel like family, a testament to her warmth and generosity.
Linnea was a devoted daughter, a caring sister, beloved cousin, and a loving aunt, cherishing her family with every fiber of her being. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to inspire.
Linnea's life was a portrait of beauty and generosity, both inside and out, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Linnea on October 26, from 1:00 to 5:00PM at the
Wareham Lodge of Elks, 2855 Cranberry Highway, East Wareham, MA 02538.
