Carol “Jewel” Mae (Davidson) Leasure, 81, of Rochester Mills, PA died Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital in Punxsutawney, PA.
Carol was born on January 20, 1943 in Punxsutawney, PA.
She had been a member of the former Rochester Mills United Methodist Church.
For many years Carol worked as a cook at the former Canoe Grant Elementary School in Rochester Mills, where she greatly enjoyed the Christmas tradition of assisting students with creating customized gingerbread houses.
She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. An accomplished cook, Carol also enjoyed canning and crocheting.
Carol married Vernon R. Leasure on July 20, 1963. They had shared over fifty-four years of marriage when he died on January 18, 2019.
Fondly known as “Jewel” by her grandchildren, Carol loved spending time with her family.
Carol is survived by her six children: Vernon L. (Melissa) Leasure of Rochester Mills, PA; Debra (Scott) Zagurskie of Hershey, PA; Ronald (Melissa) Leasure of Marion Center, PA; Alan Leasure of Rochester Mills, PA; Sharon (Dale) Edwards of Marion Center, PA and Jennifer (Doug) Mesaric of Hershey, PA and her ten grandchildren: Megan (Justin) Ferrier; Alaina Leasure; Matthew Zagurskie; Nathan Zagurskie; Miranda Leasure; Ryan Edwards; Zach (Brittney) Edwards; Brittany Mesaric; Kayla (Matt) Graden and Jason Mesaric.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. A private interment with Pastor Mark Brady will take place at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Rochester Mills, PA.
