Obituary

Amanda Leigh Erb, of Charlestown, formerly of Maryland, passed away on August 28, 2024, after a courageous seven-month battle with Neuroblastoma. Beloved daughter of Randy and Anita (Rush) Erb of MD. Dear sister of Lauren Lister and her husband Eddie of MD. Loving granddaughter of Henry Rush and Joyce (Weil) of PA, and the late Lee Erb and Dolores (Shade). Devoted aunt of Theodore and Oliver Lister.

Amanda was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 22, 1988. She lived in Pasadena, MD until the age of five when her family moved to Westminster, MD.

Amanda graduated from Westminster High School in 2006. After attending Carroll Community College and MICA she found her niche at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. She received her BFA in 2013. In September of 2014 she headed north to Charlestown, MA where she began her career as a freelance illustrator/graphic designer. She was represented by Astound Us, Inc. Us Publishing, with her main focus being illustrations for children’s books. Some of the companies she worked with were Mascot Books, Capstone Publishing, Rourke Educational Media, Maverick Books UK and Scholastic Australia.

Amanda had many interests throughout her life; soccer, food and drawing first and foremost, not necessarily in that order. She played soccer starting at age six, continuing until her cancer diagnosis in January 2024. Her palate enjoyed an international assortment of food. More than likely if you saw Amanda she had a pen or pencil and sketchbook in hand; no surface was safe from her doodling. She loved movies, her top genres being animation, sci-fi and fantasy. She was an avid reader, lover of music, quiet but adventurous. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends; she will be deeply missed by all. Gone but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury, Saturday, September 14th at 12:00pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Amanda can be made to MSPCA-Angell, Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130, or online at www.MSPCA.org www.mspca.org. or a charity of your choice.
