R. June (Roddy) Connors, 97, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31 at her home in Belvidere, with her niece Brenda by her side. She was the widow of the late Larry Connors who passed away in 2002.
Rose June Roddy was born on December 22, 1926 in Lowell, a daughter of the late Michael Roddy and the late Esther (Carter) Roddy. She was raised and educated in Centralville and attended cosmetology school after high school. She started her own beauty salon, “Flair Haven Beauty Salon” which was located on Bridge Street in Lowell. She owned and operated Flair Haven for many years but eventually moved on to her second career at Raytheon in North Andover where she worked for several years until her retirement in the 1990’s.
In her married life she settled in the Highlands, was a member of The Red Hat Society and was a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant Golf Club. She was also a longtime devoted communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. After her husband passed away, she then resided in Belvidere with her beloved niece, Brenda for the final 13 years of her life. She could also be frequently found visiting Lowell’s Senior Center.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether on the golf course, playing 45’s, at the cribbage board, or in her garden. A gracious hostess, she delighted in cooking and entertaining, always welcoming others with warmth and kindness. Her sweet soft spoken demeanor and generous spirit made her beloved by all. Her warmth as “Auntie June” endeared her to many and she leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by everyone.
She is survived by her sister Brenda Roddy of Lowell, and her sister in law Joanne Roddy of Chelmsford, her nieces and nephews, including and most especially, her niece, Brenda Crowley of Lowell and her godson, Jimmy Purtell of Salisbury.
She is also survived by her nurses and caregivers Jill Richard and Rita Chin Patrilo.
Besides her husband and her parents she was predeceased by her late siblings, Esther Crowley, Mary Roddy, Madeline Roddy, Eileen Pelton, Raymond Roddy and John Roddy.
