Michael T. Passanisi of Medford passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on September 2, 2024. He was 74 years old. Michael was the beloved husband of Rosemary (Gianino) Passanisi. Born in Boston, Michael was the son of the late John J. and Josephine L. (Amara) Passanisi.
Michael was very accomplished and highly educated, earning his Bachelor’s Degree and his Master’s Degree in French from Boston College. He furthered his education by earning a second Master’s Degree from Suffolk University, in Education. Michael worked for Pope John XXlll High School in Everett, for 30 years, as a teacher in foreign language, with concentrations in French, Spanish and Italian, and was promoted to the head of the Foreign Language Department at Pope John. Michael began the program at Pope John to expand the language arts to include Italian. He would also become the Sports Information Director for the Athletic Department.
Michael was dear brother-in-law to Julie Carbone of Kissimmee, FL. and Frank and Patricia Gianino of Bedford, MA; He was the loving uncle to Patricia Carbone, Lauren Morton and Allison Sweeney. Michael will be missed by his many colleagues, friends and former students.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, September 7, from 9-11AM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, MA, followed by a funeral Mass to be held in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, MA, beginning at 11:30AM. Relatives and friends are invited.
Services will conclude in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
