Obituary

Rose (Blacker) Kraus of Chelsea, formerly of Everett and Dorchester died on July 28, 2006 in the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. She was 100 years old.

Born in London, England, the daughter of the late Samuel and Lottie (Mednicov) Blacker, Mrs. Kraus came to the United States as a young girl with her family settling in Dorchester. She was educated in the Boston Public School System and graduated from Dorchester High School. Wife of the late Isadore Kraus and mother of the late Eleanor Spitzer, Mrs. Kraus was a resident of Everett for many years. She was a member of Congregation Tifereth Israel of Everett and its Sisterhood, Hadassah, and the Jewish Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting and playing Bingo.

Mrs. Kraus is survived by her son, Stephen and his wife Pearl “Peni” Kraus of Holliston; her grandchildren, Eric and his wife Jill Kraus of Framingham and Jennifer Kraus of Holliston; and her great-grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah, and Kyle. She was also the sister of the late Sarah Kaplan, Israel Blacker, and Maurice Blacker.

Graveside funeral services will be held in the Congregation Chai Odom Cemetery, Centre St. West Roxbury on Sunday, July 30, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Rabbi Earl Kideckel of Temple Beth Torah will officiate. Memorial observance will be held at the home of Stephen and Peni Kraus through Thursday evening.
