Allen Pauls
Allen C. Pauls, age 94 died peacefully on August 31 in Anderson, Indiana.
He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Charles and Hilda Pauls.
Allen earned bachelor and doctorate degrees from Purdue University in chemical engineering in West Lafayette, Indiana, where he met and married fellow student, Mary Jo McComb.
He worked for Monsanto from 1956 until his retirement in 1991, then part time for Monsanto and Enviro-Chem for another 10 years. During his career, he chaired the Heat Transfer Research Institute technical committee, as well as the heat transfer and energy conversion division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineering. A side benefit of his participation in these groups was the opportunity for global travel with Mary Jo. He loved his work-and his family!
He is survived by his four daughters, Catherine (Kubo) Pauls, Joan Pauls (Ernest Hite), Julia (Michael) Costello and Carol Tipton; his sister, Marilyn (Donald) Humphrey; his sisters-in-law, Lois Pauls, Miriam McComb and Billie Ann McComb; his grandchildren, Margaret Hite( Joseph Bercovici), Clara Costello, Jean Costello (Michael Veit), Mark Tipton and Jacob Tipton.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jo Pauls; his brothers, Gilbert and Gerald Pauls; his brothers-in-law, Harvey, James and Walter (Janice) McComb; and his son-in-law, Arthur Kubo.
