Dennis “Crawford” Leverett, 82, of Tifton passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mr. Leverett will be laid to rest at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Steve Jr. Lucky Farmer, Hunter Farmer, Clint Farmer, Ricardo Flores, Greg Pitts and Kade Atkinson will serve as pallbearers.
Born January 5, 1942, in Turner County, Mr. Leverett was the son of the late Washington Henry Leverett and Margaret Collins Leverett. He was also preceded in death by one son, Keith Pitts; one brother and his wife, Charles and Linda Leverett; one brother-in-law, Edward Morris; and one sister-in-law, Betsy Leverett. Before retiring, he was the owner of Leverett Tile Company in Tifton; and he was of the Baptist faith. His passion was his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the Atlanta Braves.
Mr. Leverett is survived by his wife, Melba Jeanette Bass Leverett of Tifton; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Greg and Marie Pitts and Bruce Leverett, all of Tifton, Jim and Joycie Pitts of Ocilla and David and Paige Leverett of Orange Park, Florida; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Eddie Donovan of Ocilla and Veronica and Jimmy Conger of Tifton; one brother, Jerry Leverett of Alamo, Florida; one sister, Mary Leverett Morris of Adel; numerous grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
