Zhani Qirko, 77, of Worcester, died on Saturday, August 31st at home surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Zhuljeta Qirko; two sons, Erjon Qirko and his wife, Oljeta of Belmont and Julian Qirko and his wife, Eneida of Holden; a brother, Fredi Qirko and his wife, Marjeta of Brockton; a sister, Dhurata Gjyli and her husband, Gazmend, of Tirana, Albania; four grandchildren, Antony Qirko, Matteo Qirko, Sara Qirko, and Julia Qirko; and several nieces and nephews. Among them, his favorite niece, Sonila Kokona, and his nephew, Dritan Qirko, held a special place in his heart.
He was born in Tirana, Albania the son of the late Mihal and Ulia (Kote) Qirko. Zhani was a dedicated maxillofacial surgeon and dentist, known for his unwavering commitment to his patients and his profession. Zhani also dedicated his last 20 years working at Harrington Memorial Hospital, where he continued his legacy of caring for patients. His hard work and dedication were a testament to his character and passion for his field. in addition to his professional achievements, Zhani had a vibrant life outside of work. He was an avid fisherman and gardener, finding peace and joy in the natural world. Zhani was not only a skilled professional but also a loving and devoted family man. He took great pleasure in spoiling his grandchildren with their favorite treats, especially chocolates and ice cream, always bringing a smile to their faces.
Zhani's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the love he showered upon his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His calling hours will be on Thursday, September 5th from 6:00pm until 8:00pm in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Family and friends are invited to gather in the funeral home on Friday, September 6th beginning 9:30am until 10:00am. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street.
