Thomas J. Doucette, Jr., 84

Thomas J. “Duce” Doucette, Jr., of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024, the day following his 84th birthday at his summer residence at Canoe River Campground in East Mansfield. He was the beloved husband of the late Clara M. (LaPointe) Doucette, to whom he was wed for over twenty years at the time of her death on May 13, 2022.

Born in Weymouth, MA on August 30, 1940, he was a loving son of the late Thomas J., Sr. and Jeannette C. (Bowles) Doucette.

Duce grew up on the Braintree side of Weymouth Landing and was a 1958 graduate of Braintree High School. During the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past fourteen years and previously resided in Florida and Foxborough.

A retired Pipefitter, Tom learned the trade at General Dynamics Fore River Shipyard in Quincy and spent the majority of his working career actively employed by Local 537 Pipefitters Union. Throughout the years, he attended many Union events.

An avid race car enthusiast and along with his late wife Clara, they enjoyed attending racing events in Loudon, New Hampshire and at the Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk. His other hobbies included camping and deep-sea fishing for Bluefin Tuna.

He was the dear brother of Paul F. Doucette and his wife Joan of Halifax and David P. Doucette of Ashland. He was the loving uncle of Danielle Thorley Doucette and her husband Kevin Thorley of Williston, Vermont, Brian Doucette of St. Albans, Vermont, Jared Doucette and his wife Meredith of Newton and Tavis Doucette and his wife Kristie of Van Nuys, California. He is also survived by 1 grand niece and 3 grand nephews. He was the much-loved father figure to Clara’s family, her children Donald Noonan and his wife Kathleen of Melbourne, Florida, Edward Noonan of Berkley, Michael Noonan of North Attleboro, John Noonan and his wife Kathleen of Revere and Brian Noonan of Attleboro. He is also survived by Clara’s adoring 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, September 5th from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
