Gualter De Freitas Resendes, 55, of Dunstable, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Dexter House Health Care Center in Malden after a long battle with cancer.
A son of Livonia Resendes of Sao Miguel, Portugal and the late Luis Resendes, he was born August 4, 1969, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, and was raised and educated there. He served with the Portuguese Army on the Island of Terciera. After his service, while in his early twenties, he came to the Unites States, staying briefly in New Bedford before settling in Lowell.
Gualter had a deep love for taking care of animals and spent his days working on his good friend's farm, where he diligently tended to the cows and other animals. He had a particular passion for planting, especially corn, and his hard work was admired by everyone who knew him. Gualter was always respectful and considerate of the needs of others, taking great care of the late Maria and Jose Silva. His dedication to the Camacho farm was unwavering, and he handled even the most challenging tasks with a smile, never once complaining.
Gualter was also a member of the Portuguese American Club, and worked as a handyman doing maintenance in the Lowell area. He is survived by his mother, Livonia, as well as the many friends he made in his life and his siblings.
You are invited to his visitation on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 3 until 6 p.m. at the McDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 Highland Street, Lowell 978-458-6816. His Funeral Service will be held at 6 p.m. following the visitation.
