Bruce D. Olsen, 65, the former Norfolk County Commissioner, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 26 at the Boston Medical Center in Boston. He was the husband of the late Marjorie (Sherman) Olsen. Born in Cambridge, he was a graduate of Boston Schools. Mr. Olsen was the Norfolk County Commissioner in the early 1990’s. He also worked as an Accountant for the Massachusetts Highway Department for several years. Mr. Olsen, a member of the Republican Party, was very active in state politics. He was a former member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Stoughton. Mr. Olsen also had a part-time job of painting and wallpapering. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, reading and working around the house.
He is survived by his four daughters: Leslie A. Heine of Scituate, Diana K. Olsen of Boston, Wendy L. Sprague of RI and Loree B. Lane of Stoughton. He was the brother of Ralph Olsen of Easton, Sandra Weed of NC and Robin Olsen of ME. Mr. Olsen is also survived by 8 grandchildren.
A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday from 6-7 PM with family reflections at 7 PM. Donations in Bruce’s name may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 400, Kansas City, MO 64114-3367. Burial will be private.
