TEWKSBURY: Robert J. (Bob) Parker, Sr., age 82, a resident of Tewksbury for over 50 years, passed away at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, after a brief illness.

He was the beloved husband of the late Ellen M. (Powers) Parker, who were married for 55 years until her passing in February, 2023.

Born in Natick on April 15, 1942, he was raised by his mother, Cecelia H. (Kitterick) Parker in Roxbury, Massachusetts.

Bob was raised in the Mission Hill neighborhood of Roxbury. He attended local schools and graduated from Boston English High School in 1960. After high school, he served in the Massachusetts National Guard, and later went on to earn a Certificate of Accounting from Bentley School of Accounting.

In 1969, he and his wife moved to Tewksbury where they raised their three children.

Bob spent many years working for Restaurant Management Company, which owned and operated Carroll’s, Memory Lane, and The Front Page restaurants in Greater Boston. Later time was spent working for Mile 1933, Tewksbury Industries, Turner Trucking and Salvage, and Segue Manufacturing. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Parker Associates, LLC, a tax and accounting business with his wife, Ellen.

Bob was an active communicant, supporter, and former Religious Education (C.C.D.) teacher of St. William’s Parish in Tewksbury, a member of the Tewksbury Knights of Columbus Council 4336.

He enjoyed reading, and golfing. He was a die-hard baseball fan, volunteering 25 years to Tewksbury Youth Baseball and District 14 Little League Baseball as a coach, umpire, player agent, Board Treasurer, Umpire in Chief and District Administrator. Bob was a long time member of the St. William’s Parish Men’s Club that ran the Friday Night Bingo and was part of the annual Christmas Fair for over 40 years.

Bob will lovingly be remembered for his devotion to his family, church, community, and his beloved Red Sox.

Bob is survived by his three children, Lisa E. Desrochers and her husband Ken, of Ayer, Robert J. Parker, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, of Methuen, and John T. Parker and his wife Mary, of North Chelmsford: six grandchildren, Patrick R. and Brian P. Desrochers, Bellana E. and Harry W. Driscoll, and Sarah E. and John T. Parker, Jr. He was the brother of the late John H. Parker, Jr. and brother-in-law of Nancy Creed and her husband John, of Kingston, Mary Powers and her late husband James, of Abington, the late John P. Powers, and the late Joan Fasanello and her late husband John. He leaves many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Thursday, September 5th, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin Friday, September 6th at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Tewksbury Youth Baseball, 90 Chandler Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
