ELIZABETH “BETTY” V. (SCOTT) PAYNE OBITUARY


Elizabeth “Betty” “Tootsie” Veronica (Scott) Payne, 86, died on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at her home peacefully with her children nearby.

The daughter of George and Elizabeth (Woytek) Scott, she was born on October 30, 1937 in Indiana County, PA.

She was in the last graduating class of Montgomery Township High School.

On August 29, 1959, she married Franklin “Sid” Roosevelt Payne. They were married almost sixty-three years when he passed on September 5, 2022.

Betty was a lifelong Roman Catholic, who faithfully attended church masses and services. Currently she was a member of the Church Of The Resurrection, where she attended at the Glen Campbell site. Betty was a longtime member of the Glen Campbell Altar Rosary Society and assisted with funeral dinners and fish fries.

She loved flower gardening; doing crossword puzzles and watching game shows. Betty greatly enjoyed Sunday evening gatherings with her family.

A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her four children: Cindy Fetterman and husband Chris of Clymer, PA; Michele Michny of Clymer, PA; Mark Payne and wife Christine of Indiana, PA and Patrik Payne of Cherry Tree, PA; her five grandchildren: Mandy Cavallo and husband John; Adam Fetterman and wife Mary; Erica Engle and husband Cody; Kayla and Jessika Payne; her six great grandchildren: Micah Lotson; Cole Cowher; Phoebe Verchick; Dominic and Zoey Engle and Aaliyah Payne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Franklin “Sid” Payne and her sister Regina Peadick.

Family and friends will be received from 10-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. Following the viewing on Tuesday, an 11:30 funeral mass will be held at the Church Of The Resurrection in Glen Campbell, PA with Rev. Jim Morley officiating. Interment will take place at the Church Of The Resurrection Cemetery (St. Michael’s Cemetery) in Glen Campbell, PA.
