Obituary

WEBSTER – Rose A. (Sysko) Piasta, 98, died Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester after an illness. Her husband of 64 years, Joseph F. Piasta, Jr., died in 2007.

She leaves 2 daughters, Margaret A. Milas and her husband Richard of Webster and Susan G. Yurkevicius and her husband Joseph of Dudley; 2 grandchildren, Cheryl Milas and her partner Liisa Alger, and Michael Milas and his wife Margie; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson Brian J. Yurkevicius, by 2 brothers Henry and Walter Sysko and by 4 sisters Sophie Rock, Jennie Scott, Sally Laskowski and Irene Beresik.

She was born on February 28, 1926 in Dudley the youngest of seven children of John and Anna (Bieniewicz) Sysko. She moved to Webster in 1946.

Mrs. Piasta worked as a stitcher for the Bates Shoe Company in Webster for 42 years retiring in 1989.

She and her husband Joe enjoyed vacationing at Hampton Beach. She also liked playing bingo and was an avid New England Patriots and Red Sox fan.

The family would like to thank the Jewish Healthcare Center and Hospice for their exceptional loving care and support.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 4, from Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 Wednesday morning in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to Jewish Healthcare Center, 646 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
