Obituary

LACONIA ---- Linda Jean Duggan, our beloved mother, mimi, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, after an almost nine-month battle with cancer. She fought hard for each day, and was surrounded by family until the very end.

Linda was born on July 8, 1955, in Stoneham, MA.

She was a mother of four; Kris (Cara) Knox, Mike Knox, Jen (Pat) O’Reilly, and Michelle (Nicole Valcourt) Knox; a mimi of eight: Sandy, Courtney, Welker, Amber, Ashlee, Patrick, Cohen and Taelynn; and a great-grandmother of one, Jasey. She loved and cherished each role that she held in her families’ lives. She also leaves her brother, Rick Duggan, and his family; her brother Bob Duggan, and his family; her nephew, Robbie Duggan, Sue Direen and family; Steve Knox and Diane Belloir, and too many others to name. Her life was better because of those in it, and she truly enjoyed sharing her life with her people.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Duggan, her brother, Pat Duggan, and her son, Michael Knox.

Linda was never happier than when she was surrounded by her family, and spending time with them meant everything to her. You could always count on her to be there, offering support, wisdom, laughs, and lots of hugs. She never ended a conversation without an “I love you.” She exemplified what it means to be a family and, while she will be deeply missed, each person she leaves behind is stronger because of her. Her greatest joy was watching the people she cared about grow, succeed, and create happiness and she was there to celebrate any and every
milestone with them. She loved to share in others’ joy.

When she wasn’t spending time or making memories with her family, some of her fondest times were spent with her best friends of 30 years: Doug and Connie Hyslop. She loved to share stories about their many adventures like trips to the beach, camping, Foxwoods (she never won but always had a blast!), cruising, and exploring new places.

Our family would like to express our sincerest appreciation to the amazing staff at the Belknap County Nursing Home. The care, comfort and compassion you provided not only for our mom, but for the entire family, during a most difficult time is something we will never forget.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorial donations be made toward the MRK T-Guy Scholarship foundation. Donations can be mailed to Jen O’Reilly at 72 Old Prescott Hill Road, Laconia, NH 03246.

There will be no services at this time.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for Saturday, October 12, 2024, with a time and location to be determined.
