Wendell James Waldrop, 81, of Tifton passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Gordon Poole Jr. and the Rev. Tim Mathews officiating. Mr. Waldrop will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Gordon Poole Sr., Danny Jones, Wayne Griffin, Bob Harrell, Mike Waldrop and Randy Waldrop will serve as pallbearers.
Born June 2, 1943, in Tifton, Mr. Waldrop was the son of the late James Henry Waldrop and Alma Griffin Waldrop. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Harrell Waldrop; and one brother, Mike Waldrop. Before retiring, he was the mill operator at Central Soya Feed Mill in Tifton; and he was a member of New Life Tabernacle in Sylvester. He loved to fish; he loved people; loved going to church; loved his family; and loved serving people. His favorite color was red – that is Georgia Bulldog red.
Mr. Waldrop is survived by one son, Lee Waldrop and April Singletary of Hahira; one daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Michael Mathews of Tifton; a daughter-in-law, Tonia Waldrop of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Kay Waldrop of Tifton; an adopted daughter, Marilyn Pitts of Tifton; a special person that was like a daughter to him, Leah Brooke Mobley and her husband Jeff; seven grandchildren and their spouses, JJ and Meagan Scarberry, Courtney Waldrop, Amber Waldrop, Lucas Mobley, Noah Mobley, Mason Mobley and Nikki Curtis; and one great-grandson, Logan Scarberry.
