William (Bill) Niederst passed away peacefully in the first hour of August 27, 2024 in Ventura, CA. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat, daughter Jennifer Robbins (Jeff), son Liam Niederst (Robin), grandson Arlo Robbins, sisters Alice Johns (Jim), Cecelia Lutty, Frances Keenan (Bill), nieces Kim Doyle and Amanda White (Jeremy), and great-nieces and nephews Devin, Haley, Calvin, and Eloise.
Bill was born on October 27, 1941 to William and Marie Niederst in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from North Catholic high school in 1959. His interest in chemistry (he had a full chemistry lab in his bedroom) led him to a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1963. He spent his career in increasingly important positions at BF Goodrich, eventually becoming CEO and Board Member of Zeon Chemicals. He also had leadership positions at several Chemical Manufacturing trade organizations and received many awards for Safety and Leadership throughout his career.
Bill was raised on a small farm and ended up traveling the world. He will be remembered by all those who love him for his dedication to family and friends, unparalleled work ethic, mastery of many talents, love of music, and great sense of humor. You may picture him holding up a big fish he just caught, collecting tomatoes he grew himself, hammering nails on a big building project, or basting ribs on the grill. Regardless of what point in his life you met Bill, you will certainly remember him smiling.
Memorial donations may be made in William's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, Ventura.
