Arthur Paul Herold, Sr., age 89, of Franklin, MA, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, surrounded by love.
Art was born on January 8, 1935, to Ernest Herold, Sr., and Irene (Brennan) in The Bronx, NY where he graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School, and Fordham University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1963 after his honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps as a noncommissioned officer. Art began his professional sales career at IBM, and later worked alongside his brothers for many years as a licensed agent with Northwestern Mutual Life. He eventually followed his calling to serve the Catholic Church as a Director of the Lady of Mount Kisco Retreat Center where he also participated in Regnum Christi until his retirement.
In 1964, Art met Michelle Lynne Dore at The World’s Fair in Flushing, NY. They soon married and raised five children as longtime residents of Norwalk, CT: Arthur Jr. (fiancée Michelle Bradshaw), Kristen (husband Richard DiNobile), Michael (wife Amy Herold), Stephen, and Jeanne (husband Dean Baker).
Art’s steadfast devotion to his family and unwavering faith were the cornerstones of his life. At St. Matthew’s Parish in Norwalk, Art was actively involved in faith-centered activities. Along with Michelle, he served as a parish Pre-Cana marriage advisor, and with Marriage Encounter. In his later years, he continued his spiritual journey as a member of St. Brendan’s Church in Bellingham, MA with his commitment to the Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and faithful participation in the weekly Men’s Prayer Group, along with his dear brothers in Christ.
In addition to his children and beloved wife of 58 years, he is survived by thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Ernest Jr. (wife Suzanne) and Edward (wife Phyllis), and his cherished granddaughter, Maddie Savoie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass Saturday September 7th, in St. Brendan Parish 384 Hartford Avenue, Bellingham, MA at 11:30AM. To view the Mass, Click Here
