Alice Carman Iyer, of Winchester, Massachusetts, formerly of Cambridge and Belmont, died suddenly on August 22, 2024. She was 60 years old. Alice was born in New Haven, CT, daughter of John B. Carman and the late Ineke Wichers Carman. Raised and educated in Chennai, India, Cambridge and Belmont, Massachusetts, Alice received her bachelor’s degree at Wesleyan University in 1985. Alice worked as a tech writer and translator at Interleaf and ATG and most recently focused on asset management and resume-writing. She treasured the years studying and working in the Netherlands, her mother’s native country. Alice loved art history, travel, classical music, jazz singing, and finding the perfect gift for the people she loved. Her family remembers her as gentle, kind, caring, a wonderful aunt, and a gracious host.
Alice is survived by her loving husband, Raju Krishnan Iyer of Winchester, her father John Carman and his wife, Ann, of Scarborough, ME, her siblings Peter Carman (Lynn Carman Bodden) and Tineke Carman Vandegrift (Jeffrey), by her brother in law Ram Iyer (Malini Narayanan), her sister-in-law Geetha Iyer (Sreekrishnan VP Iyer), three nieces and four nephews.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, September 7 at 2 P.M. at the United Church of Christ, Boxborough, 723 Massachusetts Avenue, Boxborough, MA.
