Obituary

BELMONT --- Cynthia Ellen (Carey) LaFond, 79, was called home on Friday, August 23, 2024.

Cynthia was born on May 4, 1945, in Dorchester, MA, the daughter of the late Philip and Clare (Sewall) Carey, in the middle of what would be 11 children. The family moved to Sanbornton, NH, where she grew up on a dirt road, spending time between the “winter house” and the “blue house” just across the field. She attended Laconia High School.

Cynthia would go onto marry Richard LaFond and raised, in her own words, their 3 sweet, special, amazing children. When they purchased their home, she purchased a swimming pool to be placed there. She made it her life’s work to know all there was to know about that pool. She took that knowledge and for 40+ years she took great pride in making it her business to her loyal customers all over NH. Cynthia also loved to drive, be it a ride to or from the airport, a doctor’s appointment or just because, she was your chauffeur. Fittingly enough, the ring tone on her phone was “Life is a Highway.”

Her greatest love was her 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Always willing to drop what she was doing to help. Whether it was bringing forgotten item to school, making sure dance classes were met, watching the animals, bringing kids to practices, it didn’t matter what you needed her for, it just mattered that you needed her.

She was full of knowledge and wisdom and believed that anything could be cured with an Alka-Seltzer and Vitamin C.

She will be greatly missed and forever loved.

She is predeceased by her parents, sister Elizabeth “Bette” Conlon, brother Philip “Tippy” Carey and her husband Richard LaFond. She is survived by her children Sonja Love (Jason), Brandon LaFond (Danielle) and Melany Bowe (Tyson); 7 grandchildren, Chelsea LaFond (Jayson), Alissa LaFond, Cooper Blackey (Emily), Calia Blackey, Jaxon Love, Brock Bowe and Scotty Bowe; and her 2 great-grandchildren Ashlyn and Abel Thompson. She is also survived by her sisters Gretchen Stucchi (Tony), Patricia Guillmette, Theresa Manson (Jeff), Chrissy Nagy, Marcella Harris (Ed), Mary “Bonnie” McCormick and Martha Aucoim (Dick); and brother David Carey (Tina); and several nieces and nephews whom she loved.

Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
