Robert “Bobby” Clinton

SANFORD- Robert “Bobby” Clinton, 63, passed away on August 24, 2024, after a brief illness. Bobby was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 19, 1960, to the late Robert F. Clinton and Marjorie L. (Churchill) Clinton.
After graduating from Boston Technical High School, Bobby joined the U.S. Air Force, where he proudly served his country until his retirement in 1994. His time in the service was one of the greatest sources of pride in his life, and his love for his country was only surpassed by his deep love for his family.
It was during his service that Bobby met his late wife, Sandra Lee (Smithwick) Clinton. Together, they built a life filled with love and joy, spending the majority of their years in Chelmsford, MA, raising their children. In later years, Bobby moved to Sanford, Maine, where he found peace and happiness in the beauty of the state. He had a passion for music and was an avid sports fan, spending many hours enjoying sports radio.
Bobby and Sandy shared a love of travel, with Amsterdam being one of their favorite destinations. Their adventures together were cherished memories that brought them closer as a couple.
Bobby often proclaimed “I have had the best life”
Bobby is survived by his daughter Marjorie and her husband Rob of Oregon, and his three beloved grandchildren: Daisy, Bear, and Rainbow. He is also survived by his four sisters: Marjorie Meisner and her husband Ronald of Shirley, MA; Tracy Lee Gately-McDonagh of Sanford, ME; Sandra Atchley and her husband Chris of Crystal Beach, TX; and Nancy Clinton of O'Neill, NE. Additionally, Bobby leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will forever hold him in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy, and his son, Jason Clinton.
Bobby will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to Operation Troop Support, an organization that Bobby was involved in and believed in.
