Obituary

WEBSTER - Kerry L. (Hammonds) McBrien, 47, died Friday, August 23, 2024 with family at her side. Her husband of 18 years, John R. McBrien, died in 2017.

She leaves her parents, Timothy and Debra L. (Durant) Hammonds with whom she lived; an uncle, Dallas Hammonds of Akron, OH; an aunt, Pamela Williams of Cleveland, OH; her mother-in-law, Margaret McBrien of Sturbridge; her godparents, Thomas and Judith Wypyszinski of Northbridge; several cousins, Lea Dumas and her companion Michelle of New Hampshire, Diane McKeon and her husband Paul of Whitinsville, Brenda Puzo of Worcester, Maegan Sherman and her wife Lindsey of Whitinsville, Katherine Flagg and her husband Corey of Northbridge, Charles Wypyszinski and his partner Stephanie and their children Tommy and Hanna of Uxbridge, and Christopher Wypyszinski and his wife Crystal of Wilbraham. She was especially close to Kaiden and twins Jacob and Izaak who visited on many weekends. She also leaves her Boston terrier Chloe and her cockateel Jake.

She was born on January 21, 1977 in Worcester and raised in Dudley. She graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School in 1995 where she was a member of the school chorus.

Mrs. McBrien worked as a personal lines representative at the former Commerce Insurance, now Mapfre, until retiring in January, 2023 due to illness.

She loved cooking, camping trips with her family and listening to music. She devoted much time to her cousins and their children. She enjoyed organizing the annual “Toys for Tots” drive every December at Commerce Group. Kerry always thought of others before herself.

Her family would like to thank the staff at the Jewish Healthcare Hospice for their loving care to Kerry for the last 6 weeks.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, August 29 at 11:00 AM in the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 Thursday morning prior to the service. Donations in her name may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Hospice, 646 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
