Robert Erwin Marcus, 94, formerly of Framingham Ma. Passed away peacefully after a brief illness.
Robert was born in Brockton Ma. On January 6th 1930. Was Raised by his parents Louis and Mary Elaine (Boliton) Marcus in Newton Ma. Along with his beloved sister JoAnn (Marcus) Gardner. Following his High School graduation Bob went to North Eastern University Boston and enlisted in the Naval Reserves. The decision to join the United States Navy had the greatest impact on the rest of his life. Robert took on leadership roles, developed personal accountability, and it provided an opportunity to travel. These would be important values he carried with him the rest of his life. After the Navy Dad graduated from North Eastern University and eventually joined his family business.
Bob, a master story teller was well known for reminiscing of his days in the Navy. An accomplished artist he also retold his adventures with his paint brush, recreating scenes on canvas of his cherished ship the USS Yosemite DD 19 on the rough seas. Dad was also an avid reader, historian, and writer, had a particular interest in the Civil War, later completed his passion project, a novel, The Strickland Journals, a civil war novel, focusing on the brutality of war, experiences of the soldiers, and society of the times.
For 56 years Robert was the beloved husband of the late Beverly (Yarckin) Marcus, who passed away in 2013. he was the devoted Father to Ellen (Marcus) Falone (William, Butch) Jeffrey Marcus, and Wendy (Marcus) Colledge (David). Adored Grandfather to Alexandra Zenga, (Mark) Joseph Falone, Marcus Colledge, Brooke Colledge, and Shayna Colledge. And beloved Great Grandfather to Luca and London Zenga. Cherished Brother to JoAnn Gardner, Brother in-Law to Larry Yarkin (Reesa). Robert is also survived by loving Nieces and Nephews, and a few best friends that made every day worth living for him.
The Marcus family would like to thank the staff of Tatnuck Park Assisted Living in Worcester, for their exceptional care, and the Christopher House Hospice VNA for thier care, compassion, and support.
Funeral services will be held graveside at the Agudath Israel Cemetary 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury, Ma. On Thursday August 29th at 11:00 A.M.
