Obituary

Worcester – James J. Leslie, 71, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home after a long illness.

Mr. Leslie is survived by two daughters, Carrie A. Purcell of Holden, MA and Kelly L. Hadayia (Scott) of Denver, CO; a stepdaughter, Danielle Ferry of Pittsburgh, PA; a brother Robert Leslie (Nellie) of Orange Park, FL; a sister, Jo-Ann Veroneau (Tom) of Gulf Breeze, FL; 4 grandchildren, Brady, Ella, Sophia, and Betty and several nephews.

James was born in Worcester, son of the late Joseph Leslie and Elizabeth (Barslow) Antanavich. He graduated from Millbury High School and worked most of his career in the automotive industry. Prior to his most recent role of sales manager at Prime Ford, from which he retired, James previously worked for Herb Chambers and Rand Whitney.

Mr. Leslie was a former member of the Singletary Rod and Gun Club. He was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed taking trips to the beach, especially Maine.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 28 at 11:30 AM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11:30 prior to the funeral service. Burial will immediately follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Leslie may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Home via the VNA at vnacare.org.
