Rita M. (LaPointe) Parker, age 88, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, at Alliance Health at West Acres surrounded by family. She was the devoted wife of the late Richard E. “Dick” Parker, Sr. for 62 years.
Rita was born and raised in Brockton, she was a daughter of the late George and Clara (Sweeney) LaPointe.
A 1954 graduate of Brockton High School, Rita was a lifelong resident of the city.
After graduation Rita worked at First National Supermarket where she met Dick, the love of her life. Rita also worked as a Teacher’s Aide at the Whitman School. She then enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother to her 2 children. She loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. Her door was open to everyone during the holidays especially during Christmas where everyone left with a plate of her delicious homemade Christmas Cookies.
In her free time Rita loved camping at Normandy Farms where family and friends would sit around the campfire and enjoy her delicious molasses cookies known by all as her camping cookies.
Rita was the loving mother of Richard E Parker Jr., and his wife Jacqueline Parker of Foxborough, and Debra Kaplan and her husband Jeffrey of Brockton; the grandmother of Jonathan Parker of Foxborough, Brandon Parker and his wife Kayla of Perham Maine and Andrew Sweeney and his wife Amanda of Haverhill and Michael Morrissey of Brockton and the great grandmother of Tiernan Sweeney of Haverhill. Rita was also the sister of the late Clara Doucette.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 am, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am, in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater
