Naida Lou Casey Schock, 85, a lifelong resident of Ventura, Ca, since 1962, passed away on July 27, 2024. She was born on September 15, 1938, in Boone, Iowa. Naida dedicated over 30 years of service to Ventura County, ultimately serving as the Custodian of Records for Children’s Services. Her public service career began shortly after graduating from Ventura College, where she earned a place on the Dean's Honor Roll. Naida was deeply committed to her family and community, serving as a Methodist Sunday school teacher and a Girl Scout den mother. An avid reader, she found joy in both learning and nurturing the bonds of family life.
Naida had a passion for travel, exploring sites from Baja Sur to Gettysburg, Mt. Rushmore, New Orleans, and places in between. She also ventured across the pond to Great Britain, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. In Ireland, she kissed the Blarney Stone, explored her Celtic roots, and acquainted herself with Irish myths and legends, including the tale of Tír na nÓg.
Her adventures extended further as she explored the mysteries of Spain, Portugal, and North Africa where she encountered Moroccan pickpockets travelling to Egypt, where she once stood and gazed upon the Great Pyramid of Giza. These experiences enriched her life and deepened her cultural understanding and appreciation.
Naida was preceded in death by her former husband - Kaley Cactus Schock (1933-2016); her sons, Christopher Kaley Schock (1961-2013) and Eric Adrian Schock (1965-1996) her parents, Jessie D'Elda Johnston (1912-1984) and Willard L. Casey (1910-1971); and her siblings, D'Elda Irene Casey (1932-2022), Michael W. Casey (1948-2001), and Anita Rose Casey (1937-1986).
She is survived by her daughter, Angela Schock Kay, 64, and her son, Anthony Schock, 65, both of Ventura, Ca, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Please send memorial contributions in her honor, to a charity of your choice.
