Obituary

Adam Schatz, a devoted father, businessman, and outdoor enthusiast, passed away peacefully at his home in Prosser, WA, on August 11th, 2024. He was 92 years old.
Born on February 4, 1932, on the family farm in their barn at Bergen, ND, Adam was the son of John and Agatha (Pfau) Schatz. He left school in the fourth grade to help on the family farm, embodying a strong work ethic that defined his life. Adam proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he gained experiences that would shape his character and resilience.
In 1953, Adam moved west and met Charlotte Miller, who would later become his wife. In the 70's, after years of hard work in Alaska, Adam founded A & B Asphalt, along with A. J. Crushing and Concrete, and a land development venture. His dedication to his businesses earned him numerous awards, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence.
Adam had a deep love for the outdoors, cherishing moments spent fishing, hunting, and farming. His passion for racing also brought him joy, as he found excitement on the track. Above all, Adam treasured the time spent with his family, instilling in them the values of hard work and perseverance.
A proud supporter of youth sports, Adam sponsored teams in Benton City, West Richland, Prosser, and the Tri-City area, encouraging young athletes to pursue their dreams. He was also a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser, contributing to his community in meaningful ways.
Adam is survived by his cherished daughters, Cindy Newport (Dan), Angie Schatz (Bill), Sandra Skwierczynski, Nancy Korgel (Lyle), and Julie Schatz (Jeff). He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and had many great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Aaron Schatz, daughter Celeste, grandson Aaron Newport, granddaughter Brooke Sousa, great-grandson Drake McCullough, son-in-law Ernie Skwierczynski and three brothers and four sisters.
Adam Schatz leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and community spirit that will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
