Mary Murphy, age 93, a long-time resident of Brockton, MA, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at her home in Brockton. She was born in Ballyvourney, Co. Cork, Ireland, and was the daughter of the late Cornelius (Con) and Julia Lynch.
She was the beloved wife of Michael Murphy, for 65 years and she is survived by six children; Barry and his wife Martha of Whitinsville, MA, Mickey and his wife Patty of Plymouth, MA, Brian and his wife Cuc of Shrewsbury, MA, Maura Murphy of Brockton, John and his wife Jeri of Pelham, NH and Eileen and her husband Robert Lanza of Wrentham, MA. “Mima” to thirteen grandchildren, Kayleigh, Owen, Charlotte, Brendon, Kelsi, Nolan, Lea, Kevin, Erin, Shannon, Liam, Ava, and Julia. A sister Sheila O'Sullivan.
She was predeceased by her sister Nora (Noreen) Leary, and her brothers John (Seanie), Jeremiah (Jehr), Michael (Mickey),
Cornelius (Connie), Timothy, Daniel (Donal), and Humphrey (Ally). She had many nieces and nephews in the US and Ireland.
Mary came to America at age 19 and was employed by New England Telephone Co. and AT&T for about 40 years. She loved to garden and entertain with friends and family
Visiting hours will be held at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, Brockton, MA on Sunday, August 25th from 2 pm to 5 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Monday at 9:30am for a funeral mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West Street, Brockton at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial at Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Tides Hospice, LLC 320 Washington Street, Norwell MA which lovingly helped care for Mary in her final days.
