Helen Wilma Overfelt on Saturday "Wilma", 103, of Ventura, passed away August 17, 2024.
Wilma was born on February 15, 1921 in Bakersfield, California and she was a Ventura County resident for over 90 years.
Wilma did catering for 40 years at the Ventura American Legion on Palm Street.
She grew up in Oak View, where her parents built and owned the Hilltop Inn. She graduated from Ventura High School in 1939. She was a hard worker, loved being around her family and grandchildren. Wilma had a green thumb and could grow anything. She enjoyed taking her daily walks.
Her family and friends would all describe her as "amazing" - she was an "amazing lady."
Wilma is survived by her daughter: Joanne Cook, of Ventura; son: Bill Overfelt and his wife Pam of Newport Beach; grandchildren: Bill cook and his wife Kathy, of Ventura, Brooke Evans and her husband Glenn, of Irvine, Brent Overfelt and his wife Shea, of Newport Beach; bonus grandchildren: Lorri Cox and her husband Rick and Charlie Cook and his wife Monica; 10 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Al & Helen Andrews and her husband, Harry Overfelt.
The family would like to express their sincere thank you to the staff of Cypress Assisted living and especially the caregivers for their care and concern given to Wilma.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the BOYKO & REARDON TELEGRAPH ROAD MORTUARY & CREMATION, 15 Teloma Drive and Telegraph Road, Ventura. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
