Obituary

Mary Blanche Walker Tipper, 78, of Ty Ty passed away Monday, February 11, 2002, at her residence following a lengthy illness. Her funeral service was held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2002, at Ty Ty First Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Jones and the Rev. Jonathan Tipper officiating. Mrs. Tipper was laid to rest at Ty Ty First Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sephus Willis, Kerry Underwood, William Markham, Jim Joy, Brian Gibson, Rodney Bennett, Bruce Grantham and Carrel Grantham, Jr. served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Perry Conger, Vernon Tanner, Louis Baxter, Bo Edenfield, Charles Markham, Royce Frazier, Steve Davis, Steve Grantham and Wayne Clark.

Born June 1, 1923, in Ty Ty, Mrs. Tipper was the daughter of the late Charlie Albert Walker and Lula Mae DeVane Walker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Wyatt Tipper; her sister, Stella Grantham; and her mother-in-law, Mamie Tipper. She had lived most of her life in Ty Ty; and she was an active and faithful member of Ty Ty First Baptist Church, where she served in the children's nursery ministry, Baptist Women's Union and Girls in Actions and Acteens. Although she was unable to attend church for many years due to health problems, she continued to serve the Lord by chairing the prayer chain, food, bread and flower ministries.

She retired from J. P. Stevens to care for her mother; and she also cared for her mother-in-law for many years. Her faith in God and her unique sense of humor served has well during her lifetime. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Mrs. Tipper is survived by her six children and two daughters-in-law, Mary Jane Tipper of Ty Ty, Betty John Markham of Pelham, Alabama, Jimmy and Jan Tipper of Early County, Scotty and Janice Tipper of Baker County, Randy Tipper of Bakersfield, California and Lisa Tipper of Lawrenceville; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, J. W. Walker of Ty Ty; and one sister, Eva Ruth Clark of Lakeland, Florida.
