Arthur Pina Tavares, age 65, of Somerville passed away on Friday, August 16th. Born and raised in Nossa Senhora Da Ajuda, Fogo, Cape Verde, he was the son of the late Casimiro Depina Tavares and Maria Jose (Corriea) Tavares. Arthur was most recently employed as a hotel supervisor.
Arthur was the devoted father of Steven Tavares and his wife Jennifer of Woburn, and the loving grandfather of Anabela and Steven C. Tavares. He was the dear brother of Joaquina Barbosa of Somerville, Madelena DaCosta of Cambridge, Josefina Santos of Florida, Julio Tavares of Somerville, Carlos Tavares of Brockton, Maria L. Tavares of Stoughton, Beatriz Pires of Stoughton, Euridice Tavares of Brockton and Carla Tavares of Canton. Arthur is also survived by his former wife, Angela Tavares; his daughter-in-law’s parents, Lyonel and Carline Orelus; and his daughter-in-law’s brother, Jeffrey Orelus, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Arthur’s family in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Saturday, August 24th from 9 AM through 12:30 PM, concluding with a service in the funeral home at 12:30 PM. Interment will be private.
