Attilio E. “Dick” Genova passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024. He was 87 years old.
Our dad was an all-round machinist who was highly regarded by his co-workers for his exceptional skills as an accomplished journeyman in patternmaking, tool-and-die work and casting finishing. He retired before his 60th birthday after 30 years of working in the highly technical machinist trade.
Attilio was also a professional locksmith, a perfectionist DIYer, an amateur archer, and a metal detecting treasure hunter who pursued all these interests with great personal fulfillment during his 25 years of retirement from full-time work in metal working machine shops and aluminum and bronze foundries. But the biggest reward of early retirement for our dad was the new freedom he gained that allowed him and our mom Alice to be vital presences in the lives of our young children for whom they were doting childcare providers.
Attilio was the beloved husband of the late Alice (Mardirosian) Genova. He was the loving father of Steven Genova of Medford, Richard Genova and his wife Carla Michelini of NY and Robert Genova and his wife Patrice Dolbeare-Genova of Mansfield. Attilio was the dear brother of Paula Tedesco and her husband Mike and the late Marion Fusi. He was the cherished grandfather of Matthew Genova, Nola Canning, Sandro Genova and Ipazia Genova. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Wednesday August 21st from 10:00am-1:00pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Late United States Army National Guard Veteran. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
