Barbara Mink June 28, 1934 – August 7, 2024
Barbara Ann (Orr) Mink, beloved long-time resident of Prosser, WA passed away on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024 at the age of 90. She was born in Canton, Ohio on June 28, 1934, moved to Portland at the age of 12 and moved to Prosser in 1962.
Barbara had a great love for her family and the many wonderful friends she made along her life journey. She was easily liked as she had an infectious signature smile that expressed her warmth toward people. Even once prompting the famous singer/actress Pearl Bailey to loudly exclaim in a crowded London train station, “I’ve got to go say hello to the lady who has a smile on her face on such a gloomy day!!”
During her lifetime, one of the major highlights was her love of travel. She was fortunate to visit over 34 countries and live in 3 of them. (Japan, Jordon, Tasmania).
Barbara was also an active volunteer in her community, earning her the designation of “Volunteer of the Year.” Some of her volunteer services included co-producer of the Miss Prosser pageant and participating in the Lower Valley Community Players.
Barbara loved to read, watch classical black & white movies, craft and paint…and shop, and that.
Barbara is survived by her husband of over 70 years, Gaylord Mink and their 4 children: Teri (Don) Schaffer, Dennis Mink, Gayla (Jay) Fanciullo, Dayna (Jeff) Coats. In addition to their children, Barbara is survived by many Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and even a few Great-Great Grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Henry (Biddy) Orr, Arlene (London) Orr, her brother and his wife Jack Orr and Virginia Orr.
A celebration of her life with be held from 1PM-3PM, Sunday Aug 18, at the El Caporal Mexican Restaurant (624 6th Street, Prosser). This was one of their favorite lunch stops. Friends and family that want to share love and stories of Barbara are welcome. Light snacks will be available.
