Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Wadsworth Glusgol, 77, of Needham, August 13 2024.
Born in Scarborough, York, England, Liz was brought to the US as a young child by her late parents Albert and Elanore Wadsworth. Liz and her four siblings were soon settled in Dedham, MA, across the road from The Church of the Good Shepherd. Church life and singing in the choir had a profound impact on how Liz lived her life. She was one of the most giving and generous of people. Liz followed in the footsteps of her mother and dedicated her life to the service of others by becoming a nurse. Graduating from the Shepard-Gill School of Practical Nursing of Massachusetts General Hospital in 1966.

At 28, Liz and Mel celebrated their marriage aboard the Peter Stuyvesant at Anthony’s Pier 4 in Boston. For Christmas, Liz turned her home into a place of magic and wonder to host her nieces and nephews. Liz loved cooking, crafting, sewing and knitting. Photography, travel and gardening were other passions in her life. The call to serve others was a strong force within Liz and she became an Ecumenical Minister, bringing comfort to those in the community. Faith sustained Liz through the tragic events of her life; losing her mother before her twenty-first birthday and then the separate loses of two younger brothers.

After retiring from Dedham Medical Associates as an orthopedic nurse, Liz opened her own business, Nannie for Grannie, to help families care for loved ones in their own homes. Faith, family and caring for others were the pillars of her life. Despite her own health issues, Liz was always the last one to raise her hand to ask for help for herself. She always put the needs of others before her own. Even when in hospital, Liz would always offer to share her meal with those visiting her.

Liz was predeceased by her parents and two brothers. She is survived by a brother, sister, numerous nieces and nephews and her husband Mel of Kittery, ME.

Funeral Service to be held at The Church of the Good Shepherd, Dedham, Monday August 19 at 11 am.
