Bertha (“Bette”) M. Currier, 86, of Ludlow, died August 14, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 12, 1938 in Springfield, MA and was the daughter of the late Florence and Alphonse Piotte. Bette is predeceased by her husband John Currier who died in 2021. She leaves three children; Bryan Currier of Suffield CT and wife Gail (Grincavitch), Nancy Currier and Ronald Coviello of Springfield, and Gail Daniele of Springfield; five grandchildren; Kristen, Sarah, Thomas, Gina, Giovanni and wife Alyshah and one great grandson Zayden. Bette was one of four sisters and is survived by her sister Lorraine Currier of Belchertown and was predeceased by her sisters Rita Piotte and Lucille Belanger. She grew up in Chicopee where she attended Holy Name High School. She met her husband John while working in a hat shop in 1956 and they were married in 1960. They shared 62 years together and raised three wonderful children at their home in Ludlow, MA. Bette worked for the Chicopee Welfare Department as a Financial Clerk for 9 years. She then transitioned to working with her husband John at Harold Kent Ford for many years as the Parts Department Office Manager. In her later years, Bette worked for the JCPenney Company as a sales associate where she made many friends. In addition to being a dedicated volunteer for her children’s functions, Bette organized the yellow ribbon campaign in Ludlow during Desert Storm. She was an active member of Christ the King Church in Ludlow. She retired in 2012 and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, children and chatting with her sisters. She was the bedrock of the family. A public Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 23, at the Christ the King Church, 41 Warsaw Ave., Ludlow at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. at the Veterans’ Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
