ALEXANDRIA ----- Nestor Norman Deshaies, 76, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 after a period of declining health at the Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord, New Hampshire.
Born in Laconia, NH to Elinor (Fortin) and Nestor Eloi Deshaies, he was raised in Franklin. Following graduation from high school, he enlisted in the USAF, serving 1966-70 and spending his last year as a sergeant and crew chief in Cam Ranh Bay, Viet Nam, working on F4 jets.
Following his honorable discharge (while returning to a country that despised vets), he worked at Spauling Youth Center in Northfield as head of buildings and grounds. He built his own home in Northfield, acquired his first (and best) dog, Jethro, and enjoyed playing bass in the TD Nickel band. Through his music, he met many great friends in the Lakes Region music community.
In 1985 he married Martha A Hunt and shortly thereafter worked in the home inspection business and eventually started his own, All Seasons Home Inspections.
He was proud to be NACHI certified and took great pride in his work. He enjoyed traveling (Greece, Mexico, Venezuela) until lines at airports overrode the benefits!
After retirement, he enjoyed time at his cabin on Big Diamond Pond and his friends there. He also got his wish of getting away from the snow and became a snowbird in Sebastian, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, wonder dog Rusty, sister Linda Deshaies Huntley (Dan) of Franklin, sister-in-law Sue Hunt of Alexandria, niece Deborah King Mir (Denis) of California, and nephews Chris King of Virginia and Dan Huntley of New Hampshire.
At his request, he will be laid to rest in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at a later date.
To honor him, please go out and listen to your favorite music, thank a vet, pat a dog, be grateful for friends and family, and indulge in your beverage of choice.
