Obituary

William Daniel West, affectionately known as “Danny,” was born February 5, 1948 to the late Harold Sr. & Dorothy West, in Boston, MA.

Danny was a deeply cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. For 50 years, he dedicated himself to the construction trade with unwavering passion and integrity. His remarkable success was a testament to his strong work ethic and the devotion he poured into every project, embodying the values he held dear. His legacy is not just in the structures he built but in the love and respect he earned from those who knew him.

He was known for his character, his commitment to family & friends, and his infectious laughter. He believed in demonstrating his principles and values, so that his children may follow. He was a devoted family man who took great joy in spending time with his loved ones.

Danny transitioned to be with the Lord on Friday, August 09, 2024. He leaves to cherish him a loving wife of 48 years, Christine, along with the unfinished “Honey Do” list; sons: Matthew Daniel, Christopher Aaron, and Errick Daniel West; 6 grandchildren: Michaela (Kyle), Omari, Matthew, Jr., Mattison, Maxamus, and Gianna; one great-grandson: Onyx. Brother-in-laws: William Merritt and Robert Holley, and sister-in-law: Victoria Galloway Holley. Danny also leaves to cherish him one sister: Carolyn Pickney, and brothers: Jerome (Yvonne) and Charles West and a host of nieces, nephews and family, and friends.

Preceding him in death was one daughter, Lisa Marie West; siblings: Constance Smith (Joseph), E. Patricia Merritt, Leon West (Joyce), and Harold West, Jr. (Judith) and brother-in-law: William Earl Holley.

Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham, MA 02026 on Tuesday, Aug. 21 from 4-8pm. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 10am at Roxbury Presbyterian Church, 328 Warren Street, Boston, MA 02119.
