Mr. Edward J. (Oakie/Popper) Aucoin, a resident at Brightview in North Andover and beloved husband of more than 60 years of the late Janet (O’Donnell) Aucoin, passed away surrounded by his family at Brightview on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, He was 94 years old.
Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, on January 7, 1930, he was the beloved son of the late Delphin and Elizabeth (Aucoin) Aucoin and a graduate of Waltham High School, class of 1947. Edward is a U.S. Marine Veteran, entering the military during the Korean conflict at Boston on August 1, 1950, and received his honorable discharge from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on February 11, 1952. Mr. Aucoin attained the rank of Sergeant and served in the 2nd Marine Division. In civilian life, Edward worked at Cavanaugh & Early and became a Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker. In 1968, he established Oak Roofing and Sheet Metal Works Company, a successful business that allowed early retirement at the age of 58. He and Janet spent their time between North Hampton, New Hampshire and Naples, Florida.
In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling with Janet, whether it be by plane or in their Airstream trailer, they were fortunate to have visited every U.S. State, except Oklahoma and many countries around the world. His passion and hobbies were singing bass in two Barbershop Choruses - Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Naples, Florida, as well as researching and investing in the stock market. He encouraged his children, grandchildren and anyone else who was interested that it was never too late to start investing for your future. Edward will be dearly missed.
Edward is survived by his four loving children and son-in-law Kevin, grandchildren; Michael, Karen, Sean, Rachael and Brandon, great-grandchildren; Madeleine, Isabelle and Joseph, sister; Mary Forman and many nieces and nephews. Edward was also the dear friend and partner of Patricia Ganci. He was the brother of the late William, Robert and Ralph.
Calling hours will be held at the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
