Obituary



James J. “Jack” Fusco, a lifelong Malden resident, died peacefully accompanied by the love of his family at the Kaplan Family Hospice, on Wednesday, August 14th. He was 81. Born and raised in Malden, Jack was the son of the late Vincent and Mary C. (DeVito) Fusco.

Jack graduated with the class of 1960 from Christopher Columbus High School in Boston’s North End and went on to earn his accounting degree at Bentley College. During its heyday, Jack was the payroll manager for the Boston Garden and Boston Bruins. In later years Jack was a weights and measures inspector for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and also served as a tobacco control officer for the City of Medford. Jack loved to travel and did so across the United States and abroad. He enjoyed going to shows and performances of music and theater. He also enjoyed watching classic films. Jack was a devout Catholic who enjoyed the rich tradition of the Church. He was deeply devoted to his family and friends. As his late mother began to age, Jack directed his life towards her care. He was goodhearted to all he knew and even took-in a stray cat, Blackie, and gave him a home for six years.

Jack was a devoted brother to Packy Fusco and his late wife Susan and also to the late Vincent Fusco. He was a beloved uncle to Anthony, Vincent, Daniel, Patricia, Susan, and Ellen. He also leaves many great-nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jack at 11 AM on Monday, August 19th in Saint Joseph Church, 790 Salem St., Malden. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at church one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be private.
