Angelica Mendes Correia (101) of Brockton passed away August 11th in the Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Jorge Furtado.
She was born in Praia, Santiago, Cabo Verde daughter of the late Bartolumeu Mendes Correia and Maximiana Mendes Ribeiro. Angelica was the matriarch of the family and known for being generous, caring and giving. She was a part of Legiao de Maria and Sagrada Coracao groups, communicant of St. Edith Stein Church and volunteered in her community. She also loved to dance, garden and give advice to others.
Angelica is survived by 4 sons, Zeferino Correia Furtado, Boaventura Correia Furtado, Eduino Furtado and Luis Furtado, 4 daughters, Arminda Borges Cabral, Cesaltina Mendes Furtado Ferreira, Ana Maria Correia Furtado and Maria Furtado, her brother Alcides Correia, 2 sisters, Feliciana Mendes Correia and Vetalina Mendes Correia, 33 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Services in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street Brockton Saturday August 17th at 8 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church, 71 E Main Street Brockton at 11 am.
Funeral Services and Burial will be held next week in her home country of Cabo Verde.
