GILFORD ---- Carole Anne Williams, 90, a long-time resident of Lake Shore Park in Gilford, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Concord Hospital-Laconia.
Carole was born on April 28, 1934, in Peabody, MA, the daughter of the late Arthur and Anne (Armstrong) Legro.
She graduated from Peabody High School and lived in Burlington, MA and Holbrook, MA. Since 1961, Carole spent summers at Lake Shore Park where she met and married her loving husband, Donald Williams. Don and Carole relocated to Gilford in 1990, living first on Sagamore Drive before moving to Lake Shore Park fulltime.
During their time in Burlington, Carole and Don were part of a couple’s bowling league for several years. They continued to bowl in Holbrook and later in Gilford. Upon moving to Holbrook, Carole became active in the Commonwealth Figure Skating Club in Randolph, MA, where she served as test chairman and helped with various other activities within the club.
While living in Massachusetts, Carole worked as a data entry assistant and bookkeeper for Sylvania and as a sales associate for Jordan Marsh. After moving to NH, she worked in the Lake Shore Park office for thirteen years before retiring in 2017.
Carole was a communicant of the Gilford Community Church and was involved with many church activities. In addition, she was very active in the Lake Shore Park Association with a primary focus on children’s activities such as the prince and princess contests, talent shows and masquerade contests. Being very conscious of protecting the natural beauty of Lake Shore Park, she was a member of and later chair of the tree committee.
She loved to shop at thrift stores, do crossword puzzles, tend to her flowers and spend time with animals. Sitting on baby beach with friends and family, often sipping a pina colada in the late summer afternoon, was a favorite pastime. She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her genuine interest in others, her remarkable memory for names and faces and her unconditional love.
Carole is survived by a daughter, Faith Williams, a son, Jason Williams, a son-in-law, Jim Panniello, three grandchildren, Franchesca Panniello, Camden Panniello and Pyper Williams, two great-granddaughters, Everly and Raynah Dumont, a grandson-in-law, Jake Dumont, a brother Allan Legro, a sister-in-law, Louise Osburn, a nephew, Stephen Legro and his wife, Renee, and two great-nieces, Megan and Emma Legro.
