Wendy Y. (Handley) Delaney, 90, of Hudson, FL and Worcester, died on Monday, August 12th at UMass Memorial Hospital – University Campus surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her son, Dennis Delaney and his wife, Julie of MN; two daughters, Susan Harrington and her husband, David of Worcester and Wendy Rice and her husband, Kenneth of Myrtle Beach, SC; a sister, Marlene Young of Soham, United Kingdom; nine grandchildren, Mindy Chiasson, Patrick Harrington, James Harrell, Spencer Delaney, Sean Bushe, Ryan Bushe, Erin Rice, Morgan Briere, and Courtney Rice; 16 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Patrick W. Delaney, and a sister, Maureen Weeks.
She was born in Littleport, United Kingdom the daughter of Herbert Spencer and Lancey Elizabeth (Roberts) Handley. Wendy immigrated to the United States on the Queen Elizabeth I in 1954 to begin her new life with her soul mate, Patrick. Wendy embraced her role as a devoted stay-at-home mom with unparalleled enthusiasm, nurturing her children with the same warmth and care she brought to every aspect of her life. Her unwavering support and boundless affection were the cornerstones of her family's happiness and success. In 1970, Wendy joined forces with her husband, Patrick, to establish Pat's Printing. For nearly 30 years, Wendy played an integral role in the business, combining her organizational prowess and personal touch to build a thriving enterprise. Her dedication was instrumental in shaping the company into a respected and successful venture, reflecting her commitment to excellence and teamwork. Wendy and her husband retired in Florida in 1988, where they began their new venture and passion repairing clocks and watches. Wendy's generosity extended beyond her family and business. She was known for her kindness, her vibrant spirit, and her readiness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her zest for life was non wavering, and her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched. Wendy was a breast cancer survivor.
Her calling hours will be held on Friday, August 16th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, One Hanover Park, 16633 N. Dallas Pkwy, Suite 600 Addison TX 75001.
