Hean Kheng, 60, of Lowell, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Lowell General Hospital after a courageous ten-year battle with cancer.
Born on February 2, 1964, in Battambang, Cambodia, Hean was the beloved son of Som Em of Lowell and the late Houth Kheng. Hean emigrated to the United States in 1985, seeking a better life for himself and his family. He earned his PhD in Education degree from the University of La Salle and dedicated his life to helping others.
Hean was a vibrant and outgoing person who had a deep love for people and a passion for helping those in need. He spent over 20 years as a teacher, touching the lives of countless students in Lowell, MA, and Stockton, California. In addition, he owned and operated a successful tax and immigration service for over 25 years, where he assisted many individuals through complex immigration processes and tax matters.
His dedication to his community extended beyond his professional work. For over 10 years, Hean served as the director of a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting orphans and low-income families in Cambodia. Through this work, he was instrumental in providing education, combating poverty, and preventing human trafficking in his homeland.
Hean is survived by his devoted wife, Vimean Kheng of Lowell; his loving mother, Som Em of Lowell; his brother, Howie Kheng; his sister, Renny Chaney of Waltham; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Hean's legacy of compassion, kindness, and dedication to helping others will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he so generously served.
On Friday, August 16, 2024 all are welcome to attend his calling hours from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell 978-458-6816. His funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. followed by procession for burial at Fairview Cemetery.
