Obituary

For as tough as he could be in the ring, for as fast and as hard as he could land a punch and hit with incredible accuracy, in like manner Henry Remillard could turn a room into a veritable ring of roaring laughter with his contagious laugh and infectious sense of fun and happiness. Henry loved boxing, that is certainly true, but even more than that Henry loved and cared for his family and friends, all of them.
Henry N. Remillard, 73, of Woonsocket died peacefully Saturday morning August 10, 2024 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Care Center in Providence.
Born and raised in Woonsocket, Henry was a son of the late Wilfred G. Remillard and Theonile (Rogers) Remillard. As a young man Henry lived on the West Coast in Modesto, California where he owned and operated a landscaping business for several years. Henry later returned to his roots in Northern Rhode Island where he has resided since.
Earlier in his career Henry worked at AT Cross. Henry was later employed at REPM Inc. in Woonsocket for many years before retiring. Henry was a dedicated and diligent employee at REPM. His coworkers were like a second family to Henry; he loved it there and counted them as close friends.
As a young man Henry was a skilled boxer. In the ring he was known by the moniker as “Hurricane Henry” and was a Golden Gloves boxing champion for 2 years in a row. Henry was a sports fan to the core, he followed all the New England teams and he was glued to football during the fall. He liked to follow the U.S. Olympic teams as they competed in the Olympics most recently in Paris, France.
Henry enjoyed traveling and taking trips throughout the New England area with Kittery, Maine and Beavertail State Park in Jamestown counted among his favorite spots.
Henry will be remembered as an outgoing and friendly gentleman whose love and devotion to family, friends and coworkers will be his lasting legacy.
