Peabody: Jeanette (Fontaine) Jankowski – Young, age 80 of Peabody and formerly of Lynn and Port Charlotte, FL, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at the Lahey Clinic Northshore following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Walter Young and was also the wife of the late John ‘Jan’ Jankowski.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Desjardins) Fontaine. First married in 1944 to John Jankowski the couple lived in Lynn and she was employed in bookkeeping for the Essex County Bank. Widowed in 1969, she married Walter Young in 1973. Following their retirement, they moved to Port Charlotte, FL from Lynn.
In April of this year, Jeanette returned to the northshore for health reasons and to be near her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter: Susan M. Hughes and her husband Terry of Peabody, a brother: Paul Fontaine and his wife Sheila of Peabody, a sister-in-law: Frances Fontaine of Somerville, several nieces and nephews including Lee Taylor of Florida.
Jeannette was predeceased by a son: John ‘Rick’ Jankowski and 3 brothers: Rene, Henry and Robert Fontaine.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service on Friday, July 28, 2006, at 10 am in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem. Visiting hours: Thursday 4 to 8 pm.
