Obituary

Mrs. Mary "Mady" Gauvin, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024, after a period of declining health. For 64 years Mady was the wife of Raymond F. Gauvin, who predeceased her in June of 2015. Born in Boston, MA on December 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Olive (Dolan) Clark.

A lifelong Franklin resident, Mady was an elementary school teacher for many years and much loved by her students. She is fondly remembered for reading aloud to her class the Little House On The Prairie books, as well as Charlotte’s Web. After her retirement from the Franklin school system, Mady and Ray spent many years as snowbirds traveling between their homes in Wareham, MA and Winter Haven, FL. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and especially her many Bridge groups.

Mady is survived and loved by her children, Susan Moir and her husband Jack of Franklin and her son David and his wife Ann of Peoria, AZ. She is also survived by her grandchildren Caitlin (Moir) Milhomme, Ellen (Moir) Leary, Andrew Gauvin, and Amy Gauvin. Mady was also the beloved “Great-Grammy” to Samuel Leary, Elliot Milhomme, and Simon Milhomme.

At Mady’s request services are private and there are no calling hours. She will be laid to rest with her husband in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in her memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at 2361 Hyland Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306 or at https://t2t.org/donate/
