Joseph A. Bowden
Retired Raytheon Draftsman

TEWKSBURY: Joseph Arthur Bowden, age 91, a lifelong resident of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully at Sunny Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation in Chelmsford on Sunday, August 11, 2024.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Tareila) Bowden, who passed away on November 2, 2018.

Born in Lowell on March 6, 1933, he was the son of the late Charles Bowden and the late Marion (Shanley) Bowden.

Joe attended Tewksbury High School and Lowell Trade High School.

Prior to his retirement, he worked for the Raytheon Corporation for more than 40 years and previously worked as an automobile mechanic.

Joe was a member and past master of Wamesit Masonic Lodge AF & AM of Tewksbury and a member of the Aleppo Shriners in Wilmington.

He enjoyed camping, completing jig saw puzzles, the companionship of his dogs, playing games on his iPad, Facebook, and most of all spending time with his family.

Joe is survived by three children, Gary J. Bowden, of Tewksbury, Dohn A. Bowden and his wife Paula (Gamache), of Tewksbury, and Doreen A. DuCom, of Lowell: his grandchildren, Timothy Bowden, Lisa (Bowden) Smith, Meredith Bowden, Allysson Bowden, Nicholas Bowden, Ryan DuCom and his partner Samantha Crisp, Justin DuCom and his wife Ashley: his great grandchildren, Sadie, Hunter, Dylan, Addison, Emmalee, Daniel, Joey, Ben, and Sebastian.
He was the brother of the late George, Stephen and Charles Bowden, Marion Parevoliotis, Phyllis Robertson, Dorothy Barney, and Janice Marcorelle.

Calling hours are Wednesday, August 14, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 15, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to Tewksbury Community Pantry, 999 Whipple Road, Tewksbury, MA 01876 or to Sunny Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation, 254 Billerica Road, Chelmsford, MA 01824
