Obituary

James E. "Jim" Hingston, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday August 10, 2024, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 77 years of age.

Jim was born in Boston on December 11, 1946, a son of the late Joseph Hingston and Margaret (O'Neil) Hingston. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1965, where he excelled in hockey and football. Jim was a 25-year member of Teamsters Union Local #25 and worked with Carolina Freight until his retirement. He later worked for the City of Boston as a Municipal Police Officer, retiring as a Supervisor following 20 years of dedicated service to the City of Boston. He enjoyed watching hockey, fishing, and going to Kingston, New Hampshire to the lake in the summer months with his family. He also greatly enjoyed being an influencer on his social media platform.

Jim is the beloved husband of 57 years to Janice L. (Blaikie) Hingston. He is the loving father of the late James M. "Jimmy" Hingston and his surviving wife Andrea F. Gorman-Hingston, and the late Brian P. Hingston and his surviving wife Tammy M. (Street) Hingston. He is the dear Pa and Papa to Alexa Hingston, Michelle Hingston, Wil Patrick Hingston, Colin James Hingston, and Sadie Elizabeth Hingston. He is the beloved brother of Ellen Eddy and her husband John, and the late Nancy DaDay and her husband Gerry. He is the brother-in-law of Bill Blaikie and his wife Barbara, Robert "Bo" Blaikie and his wife Denise, Lois Gallagher and her late husband Jim, Paula Stanford and her companion Harry McGrath, and Rosemary England and her husband Bobby. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jim's visiting hours on Friday morning, August 16, 2024, from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. in the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass at 12 Noon in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown. His burial will take place at Blue Hills Cemetery in Braintree.
