Martin Buchalter, 92, of Ventura, CA passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024. Martin was born in the Bronx, in New York City to Jacob and Faye Buchalter on September 31, 1931. He graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in 1949 and entered the Coast Guard in 1950. He went on to study literature at the University of Missouri. Eventually, he became a Radio Officer in the private shipping industry where he traveled all over the world. He was responsible for all communication of the vessel while at sea. Martin was known far and wide for his wit and his big personality. Those who knew him were gifted with a revolving collection of jokes and riddles at every visit. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson with his wife and dear friends and was an avid member of the Ventura HOG chapter. He was also a great lover of the city of Ventura. He was often heard exclaiming “This is the BEST city in the world!”.
Martin is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Wenzlaff, son-in-law Frederick Wenzlaff, grand-daughter Ruby Wenzlaff, nephew Richard Buchalter and niece Susan Kroh. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Buchalter. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all those who have helped with care and support for him or who has given comfort to the family during this difficult time.
